My interest in filmmaking started at a very young age. I was really into MTV when they still aired music videos. It was something I looked forward to watching after school. I wasn't sure why I found them so interesting, but I later learned it was the abstraction that I loved. It had no boundaries - just a few minutes of a fun ride without limitations. I just loved that type of short-format filmmaking.
My first encounter with filmmaking was when a friend brought over this gigantic camcorder his family had just purchased. The first thing I said was, "Let's make a music video." Like well-behaved children, we waited for the grown-ups to leave so we could destroy the house and document it. I duct-taped my headphones from my Walkman to the camera microphone, blasted "Welcome to the Jungle." Voila! We had our first music video. That was it. My future was set. I wanted to grow up and be a music video creator. Of course, not every little boy's dreams come true. After high school, I studied music & video production at the Art Institute. Soon after, my filmmaking career began. I've been in the event video business on and off for over 30 years now. In the late 2000s, I took a break from the business. I was mentally exhausted and losing interest in the event industry. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with a local music producer and produce music videos for his artists. It was a great experience, sort of fulfilling my childhood dreams, and I learned a lot from it. Then, in recent years, I have noticed a new trend in event videos. Long-format videos were gone. Instead, a highlight video, edited like a music video, was introduced. It has completely changed the industry. I was reignited, motivated, and I couldn't wait to start creating event videos again. The technology of filmmaking has also advanced so much, giving filmmakers the opportunity to make movie-quality videos. I couldn't wait to create movie-like event films. For the past five years, I have completely reinvented my style of work. Like music videos, there are no boundaries. My videos go wherever my creativity leads me. And all I want to do is create visually stunning films that tell engaging stories of incredible milestones, making you laugh, making you cry, and making you want to watch them over and over again.
